  • Weak at the Top

John Weak puts the man into management. He's Radio 4's new bastard: a high-flying Marketing Director with razor-sharp skiving skills, like how to do strategic planning using only a pair of dice and an Argos catalogue, how to get a big company car and drive it so that cyclists stay on the pavement, and how to do absolutely nothing at work whilst giving all the appearance of adding value and moving the organisation forward in a meaningful way. Most weeks he hangs on to his position as Marketing Director of Smokehouse, a major global company that makes processed food products from ingredients you'd never consider eating individually. But only by having the skin of a rhino, the morals of a skunk, and the brain of a one-celled organism.

    Series 1
    01. Gold Card. John Weak retains his vital Gold Executive Frequent Flyer Club card by sacking Debbie during her appraisal.
    02. Smoked Meat. Sir Marcus wants a global web presence by the end of the week. Weak descends to the IT netherworld to do battle with Gavin Smedley, an IT Director grown from the sweat of a techie's armpit.
    03. Knowing Your Unions. John Weak discovers nothing is legally binding about a legally binding contract.
    04. Trout Farm. Weak discovers there's a T missing from the end of HR, when Human Resources has a communal hot flush in response to his witty entry on Deirdre Simmons' leaving card.

    Series 2
    01. Conference.
Weak designs the perfect company conference using only a video of great sporting moments and 'that fox' from Channel 5 news.
    02. Booty.
Weak reveals the feminist text of a chocolate bar ad, featuring a bikini-clad model with lips that could suck the hairshirt off a Benedictine monk at 50 yards.
    03. Values. Weak solves the meeting room crisis by seducing Sam Whetstone, the 'stone-faced old trout with a face like a dropped pie'.
    04. Otters. Weak turns Smokehouse green while saving Sir Marcus from an eco-Nazi who insists on paper underwear.
